echo on laptop

Hey guys, I have a friend who has a Toshiba laptop, model 609 or something like
that. He's running Jaws 6.0 with Windows XP Home Edition. He's got an issue,
where for some reason, Jaws, along with all other sounds on the computer, is
coming out with an echo. I think he may have accidentally turned it on, But we
just can't find how to turn it off. I appreciate any help with this problem.
