bootable external hard drive back up

Hi,
I would loveto see a discussion of the Maxtor removable hard drives and if their software has become much easier to use.
I also found this url under my folder on external hard drives.
If some one has really a bootable complete back up on external hard drive, could he or she go into some detail pleas on setting it up?
I think this is JAWS related as one spends a lot of time using variousJAWS versions for specific tasks--like an n earlier JAWS version set to "lap top" settings soI can use my 150 foot-range wireless keyboard.
We spend so much time getting things "right" that bootable external back up makes sense to me.
