Hello.

Is there any ability to make a record of an uninstallation process?

Good bye.

Hello Michael,

Here's the list of files and folders in my JAWS source directory.

Activator - for storing FSSHELL32.dll AND JAWS.cps Runtime Settings\enu - for storing my JAWS settings Auth.txt - Text file I made containing my authorization number data1.cab data1.hdr data2.cab ikernel.ex_ layout.bin setup.bmp Setup.exe Setup.ini setup.inx setup.iss - the Installshield response file

Sorry about the mix-up with dash s and slash s for silent mode. It is dash s. You must first install JAWS from somewhere that can be written to, as you'll need to copy setup.iss to the JAWS source directory. Then you can copy the source directory with setup.iss to the xp cd.

Thanks,
Blake

Can the recording of the installation only be done from the hard drive and
not the CD?
I want to put the files on a CD with The XP setup files, can I safely leave
out all of the folders except the Jaws70?

In one part you used a slash S and then you used the Dash S for the silent
install, I am assuming I use the dash S?

Thanks,
Michael

First, copy the JAWS cd to a new empty directory, which I'll refer to as
JAWSSource. If you've downloaded the JAWS program from
www.freedomscientific.com, you'll need to extract the contents from the .exe

file with WinZip or WinRAR. Once that's done, you'll need to record the
installation by using the switch -R first. For example the command would
look like this:

drive:\JAWSSource\Setup.exe -R

Use narrator to install JAWS without speech, as you don't want the computer
to restart after the installation. Also at the end of the install when it
asks if you'd like to restart the computer, tell it no. Now, go ahead and
install JAWS, then look in your windows directory for a file called
setup.iss. When you find it, place it in the JAWSSource directory, which is
the directory you've extracted the .exe file to. Now to silently install
with the options you have selected, run setup.exe with the switch -S. For
example:

drive:\JAWSSource\Setup.exe /S

If you want to not have to activate JAWS, copy JAWS.cps and FSShell32.dll
from program files\Freedom Scientific\Activator. You'll want to copy these
files back before JAWS is started. You can do this with narrator. Also to
make JAWS start automatically upon startup, use this command:

sc create JFWService type= interact type= own start= auto error= ignore
binpath= "C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\7.0\jfw.exe" group=
"screen readers" obj= LocalSystem displayname= "JAWS for Windows" sc
description JFWService "JAWS for Windows screen reader for people who are
blind or visually impaired."

If you'd like to have your settings preinstalled, grab all the jcf files
from documents and settings\your user name\application data\Freedom
Scientific\JAWS\7.0\settings\enu. Don't worry about the files in the all
users folder. Now, just copy the jcf files back to the appropriate directory

after you've installed JAWS, and you're set. All copying can take place from

the automated install. This is how I copy my authorization information.

xcopy "JAWSSource\activator\*.*" "c:\program files\freedom
scientific\activator\" /H /Y

That should do it I think. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Blake

Hello,

I am going to be up grading my system to Windows XP Pro. To make this task
simple I will be using the unattended setup. Is there a way that JFW 7.0
can be installed automatically after the operating system is done? Yes, I
do have JFW Pro.

Thanks.
Michael
