I don't know if this will be of any help, but the most recent edition of Top Tech Tidbits has links to a bunch of zip files created by Jamal Marzui that contain introductory text tutorials on scripting for the most recent versions of JAWS. Check out the various Empowerment Zone links on the web page below to determine if the scripting tutorials would be of any value.

Hi All: If anyone can help this person, please let me know. Ray Campbell, Help Desk Technician Adaptive Technology Center Chicago Lighthouse for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired 1850 W. My name is Robert Smith. We have a mutual friend, Bill Reif, who suggested I get in touch with you about scripting matters. First of all, do you know of any good JAWS scripting courses with good explanations I could take on my own either from tape, CD, or some kind of downloadable file(s)? I tried to go through a 13-lesson series taught by someone named Jim Snowbarger and while I learned some interesting general things, it had several problems. First of all, the course was for JAWS several versions back from what I was running at the time. Second, When I tried to email Mr. Snowbarger with some questions using the email address given by him in the lessons, it was not active. Third, sometimes he would explain things while pushing keys and Eloquence would drown his voice out so that I wasn't able to get the complete explanations. Fourth, he would occasionally go too quickly and press keys which would interrupt JAWS so I couldn't tell where he had gone after doing something. Also, have you ever heard of something called the "layout editor"? It is inside of an Oracle development package called Oracle Reports Builder and Oracle Forms Builder. It appears to be totally inaccessible with JAWS. You can make field labels with it in Forms Builder and you can move things around in Reports builder with it. I know how to program around it in Forms Builder, but I can't program around it in Reports Builder. JAWS seems to stay in one place after I go into it. Sorry about the deluge, but you can answer at your leisure. Thanks in advance. -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.comJFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxTo unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.Archives located at: //www.freelists.org/archives/jfwIf you have any concerns about the list, post received from the list, or the way the list is being run, do not post them to the list.
