List, Just for my perspective, I received an E mail from Adobe about the upgrade to adobe 10. However, the version 10 or adobe X (as it appears on your desk top using the roman numeral X for ten) , did not automatically get installed from the version 9 help menue as I usually use to upgrade or update the adobe product and as noted by Dorothy. and the update is a little tedious and requires a lot of use of the Jaws cursor to be sure where you are and what step you are on. I upgraded to adobe X on a vista system using jaws 12 and a windows 7 system using jaws 12. but adobe X appears to read a document just fine as I have tested it on a few items.

Hi Dorothy; No, you don't need to uninstall Adobe 9.4 first. I don't know if others have received the update for Adobe10 but, it has been received by bothGerald & I, & if we've received it, I'm sure countless others have receivedit also. Take care. MikeP.s. I don't know if you got my download link for Dropbox, for the Adobe10update but, if you didn't I will repost it.----- Original Message ----- From: Gerald LevyTo: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, January 08, 2011 10:07 AM Subject: Re: adobe ten? Adobe Reader 10 works fine with JAWS as long as you configure it right. The tricky part is the Accessibility Set-Up Assistant which is automatically invoked when you install Adobe Reader. In previous versions of Adobe Reader, there was no need to change any settings in the Set-Up Assistant. However, in Adobe Reader 10, on the fifth and last page of the Set-Up Assistant, there is a check box labeled "Open PDF Files in the Browser" which is checked by default. This check box must be unchecked or you may have problems getting JAWS to read the PDF file. In previous versions of Adobe Reader, this check box was unchecked by default. Who knows why Adobe made this change, but it drove me crazy for hours until Ifinally figured out that this was why I was having trouble with JAWS readingPDF files. Hi Dorothy & David; I currently have an update for Adobe Reader showing in my FileHippo update checker. Below is how it reads on the update checker webpage. Adobe Reader 10.0 Installed Version: 9.4.0.195 I haven't installed it yet because I've heard that people have had problems with this updated version. I'm waiting to hear more positive feedback before updating. Take care.
