Marc, I think there are a couple of things here which need separating out. First, I don't think using the JAWS cursor in the way you are trying to, to move it over a system tray icon and click it, is supported by JAWS because few JAWS users would find this an efficient way of working. The system tray icons are graphics and most of these are not given text labels that JAWS can read, so it just ignores them which is why you can't get the JAWS cursor onto them. Second, when you use the PC cursor to get focus to a system tray and then "use the numpad to click on the icon", if you are referring to using NumPad slash, this is actually the same as clicking the left mouse button. In other words, it doesn't act on the PC cursor focus, but the mouse pointer. What you would need to do is press either Enter or the applications key, depending on whether the icon requires a left or right mouse click to activate it. Because using the PC cursor to get to a system tray icon is long-winded, JAWS has - as others have mentioned - an alternative method of pressing Insert + F11 to get a list of the system tray icons. This bypasses the need for moving the focus to the actual system tray. When you have selected the icon you want to work with, you can tab around some options about what to do with it; as well as a left and right mouse click, it offers a double left click. Hey again, I don't think I am explaining myself properly. I know how to get to the system tray and have no problem with that. For whatever reason I can't hover over the icons there in the system tray with jaws cursor and when I switch over to PC cursor I can get to the system tray and its icons. When I use the numpad to click on the icon jaws says I have selected, it reacts as if I am clicking with the cursor from my actual mouse which is in another area of the screen. So say my real mouse cursor is over an icon on the desktop. If I navigate with the PC cursor to the system tray, go over an icon and right click, it will instead react as if I was right clicking on the desktop icon where the mouse cursor is, not the one in the system tray. When I navigate with the jaws cursor it either reads only the taskbar or the system tray clock, it won't read the icons to me. I hope I explained it well this time. The problem isn't getting to the system tray itself, it's getting the left and right click buttons to react to the icons I have selected from the system tray. -Marc Click here <https://www.mailcontrol.com/sr/wQw0zmjPoHdJTZGyOCrrhg== K6!faeZbnO16WXDmomKKahaAPtj7p0sbDLTvZ6NqW4RAS1IKGSx!cRR2loLCJRCP3fmChZl4 dB8Y78yurdwGPWypRX6c3n3ZTXh4P!nhubL+NUEPHar2QoCwz1b6D4F7WWW6y40!yYTzwdaP aE2Of4T!ipEVtBQxXEFYSStxfEnKUIGPcb0Lbp7i> to report this email as spam. -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
