Windows Update and Jaws

Hi all!
I'm trying to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack in order to open
certain files with Jart, but apparently I would have to get the high priority
Windows update. I am using Windows XP Pro. Would this kind of update affect
Jaws?
