Also in addition, recent versions of JAWS (I believe 5 or 6?) will allow you to press alt+n when you hear that tone to automaticly get you to the message in question, if that's the source. Then just hitting the space bar will bring up the menu he's speaking of.

If you want to check if that is the case, you can try this.
When the beep is heard move your mouse pointer to the area where the address bar is located. You should see a message saying something to the affect of the site trying to download an active x control. 
If so, click on that with the mouse and a context menu comes up.
If this is being generated by the microsoft update site, you can click on install and the update should be good to go Now in terms of your Adobe flash player, you may need to make sure the old one is uninstalled. Since there might be some missing files due to the restore, you may want to reinstall a clean copy of Adobe and the associated flash player. Give that a try and if I can help further please let me know. Just so you know I ama Window-eyes user but hopefully will be using Jaws for future employment., hence the reason I'm on the user's list.
