Hi,
Here is the message from my brother that will give yo this information, as well
as some information about other things that might be of interest.
Go to control panel; select "Ease of Access". A window will open in which you
can start narrator, make text larger, etc. Also in this window is the entry
for "Use the Computer Without a Display (Optimize for Blindness)". I'm not
sure if it actually turns the display off (something you can do with the
monitor power button anyway), but you can set it to use narrator, get an audio
description of videos on the screen, turn off unnecessary animations, etc.
There is also a selection in the window for "Make it easier to focus on tasks",
in which you can (among other things) remove background images on the monitor,
and set the computer so you can turn on toggle keys to hear a tone when you
press CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK, OR SCROLL LOCK. Hope this helps.

Hi, somebody on one of these lists last week said that you can go in to
control panel and turn off the video resources in some way i.e. the image then
isn't on the screen. They also said this makes it a bit quicker. Does anybody
know where this is please as I couldn't find it in the obvious places.
