I'd be curious to know what type of things you're using. every Logitech product I've had has simply been plug and play and hasn't required that any software be installed.

Thanks, Bruce, for your input. Perhaps, it's got something to do with the
choices I make while installing the software for the product. If possible,
I usually choose to install them using the, if available, "custom option".
But, then, I often run into options that are over my head.

I dislike appearing so ignorant. After all, I've used JAWS since the late
1980's. But, truth is truth.

Best Regards,

I have been using logitech headphones, USB headsets, microphones, and more
for years with no problem whatsoever. I am wearing a Logitech headset
right now, and it's working great, and I just gave Caroline a wireless
Logitech headset which also works great. I am not discounting your
experiences, Gene, but my experiences are that I have had better luck with
Logitech products than any other brand.

I've also had problems with peripherals supposedly made by Microsoft.
Perhaps, you can ask as I have, which products and which models intended
to
be used with Jaws and Skype others on the list are using. I've not
received
any concrete responses, which is why this reply is going directly to you,
but, perhaps, you may. You will also probably want to know what products
and models were most accessible for setup.

Subject: Web Cam Nightmares

Hi.
wondering, what i can do.
ever since i have had my toshiba a 300 psa g4a laptop.
there is a unknown usb device, and not recognizing the web cam and the
microphone linked to it.
i have installed and uninstalled the camera software for the web cam.
and a friend sent me a intel chip set and the file was called
infinstal_auto.
and then got a word doc, how to edit the registry with the values in the
usb

in regedit of ForceHCResetOnResume
but it did not work, and now still get a error saying the camera failed to
open, please start your camera or reboot the computer.
and get a unknown usb device.
short of getting a sighted friend to back to a external hard disk and
doing
a system recovery, and not certain if this will fix it, cannot use the
camera, which is linked to the microphone.
and yes, if i get it sent away to be fixed, 1, over 100 kph away from
where
i live in Devonport, Tasmania.
2. they said they would pick it up for me, and the service centre is at
Launcestan, Tasmania, if there are any aussies here on the list.
and then they did not mention a replacement machine for me to use, as
could
be without my laptop and no internet for a few weeks, and cannot do
without
it.
so, any other ideas, you can suggest to resolve this problem.
every time i try to use the skype test call service, and do a test, and
try
to record, no sound.
and when i did try to play around with the microphone and was using a real
tech sound card, lost all my sound, and so had to have a sighted friend
come

and get it back for me which he did.
so cannot use skype at the moment.
any one else run into these problems with a toshiba machine?
cheers Marvin. E-mail: startrekcafe@xxxxxxxxx
