Thanks for the response, When I try to modify the voice I found that most
wouldn't let me change them much, as though they were being restricted to one
or two increments.
I fixed my problem though. I went in and created an excel sound scheme from
the classic and then deleted all the aliases. Now everything reads with the
same voice pitch and rate. I probably should have taken the time to figure out
which alias was creating my issue just for reference sake but I really only
wanted jaws to read consistently.

Hi Tom,

When positioned on the ttext of the heading, press the JAWS key plus F.
This should read the font information.
Hopefully it will give you a heading level (heading 1 or heading 2 or
something like that). It should also give you a font style: Bold or
Italic.
In the Configuration Manager, under the Alias Voices, there are Heading
levels that can be changed. Experiment with the pitch and different voice
options.
In the Speech & sounds Manager, put your setting back to Classic. There are
lots of places to change voice tones within these options, that will surely
drive you crazy.

Always,
Barbara Anne

Subject: Voice aliases

Hi, I am revisiting an old issue which I never resolved.
When in excel, I mark a row for column headers. When jaws reads these
headers it reads them in a different voice, an extremely annoying voice, I
find endlessly distracting.
I have been playing with the sound and voices manager as well as the voice
alias manager with no joy.
Has any one have any idea how I can change this behavior. I can understand
FS setting this as default but I must beable to change it someware.
I would appreciate any suggestions or resolutions.
