hi listers,
I don't know some of you will agree or not but I have this feeling since I
am using jaws 7.0. I feel like FS are doing a downgrade for their release of
jaws, this happen since the release of jaws 6.0 & above. maybe some of you
may say, FS has implement some new features in their every releases of jaws,
but did you all realize that the stability of jaws are reduce from 1 version
to another newer version?. In my country (Malaysia), even their is already
been release jaws 7.0, still have a big number of people hunting for jaws
6.20. I also don't know why.

I also encounter the same type of lockups that you described. I'm running
Windows 2000 SP4 and JFW 6.2. This was not a problem when I was running
JFW 5.0. I have been reluctant to upgrade to version 7.0, since version
6.0 was such a nightmare. I can be about 95% sure that whenever I view a
PDF file or encounter a Macromedia file in a web page, that IE will crash
or Jaws will stop responding.
So relax, there are others out here feeling your pain. I only wish there
was a good solution.

Hi, fellow listers.
My point of frustration is this: Sometimes, simply closing out of a Web
page or an Adobe Acrobat document will cause my PC to "freak out," going
into what is essentially a freeze mode. JAWS stops working altogether
when in this mode. Curiously, another symptom is that commonly used key
combinations (such as ALT+TAB or ALT+F4) are not recognized. I know this
because, when running Narrator, I try to move between Windows and my
ALT_+TAB keystroke is read back simply as "Alt."
Sometimes, just by hitting the Escape or Enter keys repeatedly, or by
hitting Alt+F4 (to close out screens containing error messages), my system
unfreezes and JFW returns to normal. On other occurrences, I at least can
get to a screen where JFW does not talk but lets me close it and restart.
But on other occasions, I have to abort Windows by cutting power and then
have to reboot in order to get things back to normal. Obviously, this
last is very much not preferable. Narrator does not recognize or read any
e rror message when any of this happens.
I've encountered this problem with JFW 6.2 and with 7.0. I'm running the
latest Windows XP Pro on a notebook that comes with 768 MB of built-in
RAM. I'm running IE 6 as my browser and Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 as
my PDF document reader.
I use a high-speed Internet service.
My lock-ups happen almost always when I am in, or trying to get out of,
an IE window or an Acrobat window. Antivirus protection is effective and
always updated, and I have no lingering problems with spyware.
Does anyone know of a cause? Or of a patch/fix?
