I have been told that the slower, the better, because there is a deeper burn since more time is spent on each part of the CD.
If I am wrong, please let me know. Then I will speed up things.

This depends on the quality of the CD-R media you are using, and the processor/RAM capacity of your PC. However, I normally burn my CDs on a speed lower than the CD are said to handle. That is, if I have bought CD-Rs which is said to handle burning speeds up to 40x, I normally burn them at 32x. Reason: The CD-Rs don't always deliver what they promise.
