Hi list:
I have solved this problem and perhaps the solution I've found will help
others.
I ran the sounds.exe program again. This worked the same as it did in
previous runs.
Afterward, opened Word and went to tools and options. In the general tab, of
course the check box that says provide feedback with sound was checked, as
it had been before. But I also noticed the check box that says provide
feedback with animation was also checked. I unchecked that and now find
feedback with Sounds working as I wanted. I'm sure that check box had been
checked throughout though animation never did me any good. This illustrates
why it isn't exactly helpful to have things turned on by default.
Cheers,
Dave
