To have the sound card do more than one thing it has to be a multi channel
card. If it is then check or reinstall the drivers.

Subject: Sound Cards: two outstanding issues

Hello List,
I debated whether this was an appropriate topic for the list. I believe it
does relate to using JAWS.

Here?s the deal: I run Windows 98, but my sound card has these two
difficulties:

* Firstly, when running speech, particularly the DecTalk Access32, it
is EXTREMELY stuttery, to the point where it?s difficult to understand the
speech.
* My sound card also cannot mix sounds. This is unfortunate as
synthesized speech takes up the whole sound card.

Any help would be appreciated.

Grant
