I've tried tons of titles and authors, James Patterson, titles like The
Witness, John Grisham, but no results are ever forthcoming.

With all the latest updates, I also am having no luck with Research It
and Bookshare, even typing in well-known authors and titles yields no results.
All other Research It functions work just great.
