I don't remember who posted about problems reading the digests on Friday;
but I am having the same issue. The issue isn't really with whether people
quote messages or not...if there were a consistent format to the digest
itself.
When I read digests from Yahoogroups, their format is that before each
message, the word "message:" (minus the quotes) appears, and then the number
of the message. I always do a find in Outlook for the word message: and I go
directly from one new message to the next.

In this digest, most of the time, the first line of a new message begins
with from: so I search for that. However, quoted messages also begin with
from:, so once I have found a message, I up arrow to see if directly above
that is a line that says original message, meaning the message I've found is
a quoted message.
However, sometimes it's a new message, but the date of the message appears
above who the message is from. I don't know why that is.
The reason not every quoted messages has greater-than signs is that you can
turn those off in mail programs when you respond to messages and leave the
message you responded to below your response.
Does anyone have any ideas what you can search for, in a digest, that is
consistent, to quickly move to new messages?
I do find it odd that all the new messages don't have exactly the same
format (as far as the order in which date and from and subject appear).
All I would say about quoting is that it is helpful most of the time; but it
isn't helpful to include the entire digest, quoted, below your message.
Thanks for any ideas.

Ann
