Reading Excel Cell By Character

Hi All, Something strange has happened to my Excel file and I am stumped.
Formerly to read a cell by character I would route JAWS to PC and use the
right arrow key for the cell in question. Now when I attempt this, I end up
in the address book list of names.
Are you kidding me?
Recently some SP2 upgrade files were installed. Could this be causing this
interference?
How can I again read the contents of each Excel cell?
