I do not believe that Adrian was trying to play the role of moderator. Trying or not that is what she was doing. It was a totally appropriate suggestion. No it was not according to the list rules. List rules clearly state that messages of this nature should not go to the list but should go to list admen. This is a high volume list and anything that can reduce the volume is very welcome. Welcome by who? Not the list owners not by most of us who are on this list. If admen wants to step in and request such things then let it be so, but people who are not list admin who post on subject of this type are only adding to list clutter. So I would erg all of you to review the rules for this list perhaps james or bruce should post them again so we all can see what is allowed welcome if you will and what is not. Now I will say no more on this subject. Infact based on the rules I believe I said more then I should, but the idea this sort of thing was welcome rackeld with me a bit. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Stone" <alex.stone@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, January 07, 2007 9:56 AM Subject: RE: People Saying Thanks, Will Try, and so on Have we got a new moderator? Despite the rules, listers are constantly sending messages to the group offering thanks or saying they'll get back to us. This morning's in-box has numerous examples. I'd like to ask that such messages be sent privately via the insert-shift-r reply to sender function. Of course, when a suggestion works, that's useful information for us all. I'd also ask that certain listers not constantly open their souls to us as they solve JAWS issues. We learn a lot about each other as it is, which is part of the profit I take from this list. There are many interesting and good people here. But please, don't assume some of you are so interesting that we must know every subtle aspect of your thought process and your morning coffee habits.
