Francis,

As you, I'm using Outlook express and it's very good as an email program.
But I also use Ms Outlook only for the purposes of appointments and it works 
very well for me.
I can say that OE is much more simple but with some help and some learning, 
you sure can use Outlook.
I can say about Outlook xp because I don't have and don't use yet office 
2003.
