if you turn off narrator before starting the install of jaws on a new pc and
something happens to the install, you have no way of knowing and you may not
be able to restart narrator. Certainly, turn off narrator by going to its
window and pressing alt+f4 and answering yes to the question, is a good idea
once the install is going and you are fairly certain it's going to finish,
but there is no harm in leaving it on.

K
You should most certainly shut down narator before you install JAWS or
you'll have 2 voices talking at you at once and that'll only serve to
confuse you even more. What I would do is make sure that your antivirus
software is shut down or disabled before you insert your JAWS cd. that way
you can authorize without any further difficulties. This instalation is
designed to be **very** user friendly and you should have absolutely no
problems installing JAWS whatsoever.
