Upgrading your JAWS from one ILM version to another will change your
locking code. For example I have version 5.1 and 6 on my machine. they
are both authorized and operate correctly as full versions. Version 5.1
has a different locking code from version 6 this is so that FS can keep
track of who is eligible for upgrades. If the locking code didn't change
then you could keep getting new JAWS versions even if you weren't supposed
to have them.

The system is basically the same as Windows XP. If you need to have your
codes reset FS will do this without charge and promptly. I really think
once we are all used to this system we will find that it is much more
flexible than the old version.

BTW, if you really want to make it easier to reauthorize the same machine
for whatever reason take a look at the activate image creator which allows
you to create the activation files so that you can do the activation
without a net connection.
