  Hi,

The short version is that MSAA is a method for applications to communicate to
screen readers and other assistive technology about the various buttons, menus,
text and other elements of the program. Elements that appear on the screen
have a set of properties like name, role, state and such that define what the
object is. As an example, a button might have a name of start, a role of push
button and when pressed/clicked or activated from the keyboard, a state of
pressed.

You can read more details about MSAA on the MSDN web site at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnanchor/html/accessibility.asp.
I've given you a very basic explanation.

  Kelly
