Insert A only takes your focus to the attachment. You then have to act on
it. In this case, by hitting enter. Then you will probably get a message
warning you that some attachments can be radical terrorist bombs and asking
you if you want to proceed to open it. In outlook Express, you just press
alt O to open it, unless you want to tab around to see what your other
options are.

Subject: Jaws will not read an attachment.

Hi list,
I just received an attachment from Delta Airlines and when I hit insert A to
open the attachment, all Jaws is saying is: Dl info flight 1808 txt 42 bites
note pad edit. What do I do to read this attachment? Thanks for your help.
Running XP pro and Jaws 6.2 and using OE 6.
Jim
