This is a jaws systray issue.  It should have been corrected in the most
recent update though.  There was a new command for unloading jaws posted a
while back I think and you could make that into a shortcut on the desktop
for her and call it something like turn off jaws.

Sometimes, Jaws fails to show up in the system tray, even though the
program is working fine.  What might cause this phenomenon?  This is a very
irritating situation for my wife who has a hard time remembering the hot
key for closing Jaws.
