Another helpful option you can try is a little free add-on I recently
discovered called Search Command for Office 2007. When installed on the
Word 2007 ribbon menu, it lets you type in the name of the command you are
looking for, and returns a list of results from which to choose. This way,
you don't have to waste time scrounging around the ribbon menus to find a
particular command or function.

Hey Gerald,
Ha! Now that's the kind of solution I was looking for. Fifteen bux is a
damn sight better than coughing up another $150.00 or more for Office
2003.
Thanks.

Relax. You don't have to put up with the dreaded Word 2007 ribbon menu.
You can download a plug-in that adds the classic Word 2003 menus you are
familiar with to Word 2007. You can try it out for free for 15 days, and
if you like it, it only costs $15.99. There used to be a free version of
this add-on, but it is apparently no longer available.

Subject: Jaws and Word 2007
Hello Listers,
First, I'd like to introduce myself. I just joined the group and,
mostly happily, have been using Jaws for about nine or ten years. I'm
so glad to find a user list, and delighted that it's not on the accursed
Yahoo system, heh.
Here's my issue, and I'm betting you're familiar with it. I'm a
novelist who's used Jaws and Word 2003 to composea novel. I'm now in
the middle of my second novel and for various reasons, I purchased
Office 2007.
From an accessibility standpoint, that appears to have been a mistake.
First, and I've never heard of this happening before, my copy of Office
2003 was deleted when I installed the newer version. I've looked andn
looked for it with the search utility but it really appears to have been
scrubbed from my hard drive. Secondly, I've found that using Word 2007
is a maddening, curse-producing experience. Doing even simple
things --well, they were simple in Word 2003-- seem to demand working
eyeballs. It's like Microsoft forgot about the ADA, or else simply
decided to say screw you to its VI customers.
To start with --and I'm sure other related questions will pop up as I
work on my current novel-- how do you focus Jaws on the bar where the
word count takes place? And secondly, how do you change line lengths?
Are there any scripts for JFW and Word 2007? Any information, as well
as simple commiseration and plans for the imminent destruction of the
truly Evil Empire, will be welcome.
