I don't have the problem of internet downloading slower with jaws but I've been having a lot of crashes. Has anyone noticed this with cable? Judith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Holdstock" <peterholdstock@xxxxxxx>

I had a little trouble setting mine up alone as some of the button to press onscreen weren't accessible by JAWS 6. Managed to do it eventualy using the JAWS cursor. Some installation programs for Broadband use Flash so they can show demonstrations on the screen of what do to do. These aren't very acessible to JAWS users.Has anybody noticed that even though youhave a fast net connection and Internet Explorer downloads the page very fast, sometimes JAWS seems to take ages to start reading the page. I assume JAWS downloads it's own version of the page each time, which can be very annoying.Peter----- Original Message ----- From: "Liz Wade" <ewade@xxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 6:16 AM Subject: RE: JFW usage wit regards to DSL or a cable modemDear AC:I can not speak for DSL as I have never had it but I do use a cable modem; I too have Windows XP Home with the service pack 2. It is not hard to set up although I did receive help doing the actual hook-up process setting up isnot that difficult. I used dial-up for the longest time and am so glad I changed. I don't know what you do with your computer but I use it for downloading music etc. and the fast speed is fabulous! Also, if you ever listen to radio over the net, you will not get that delay that can resultwith a slow connection. It is my understanding the main differences between DSK and cable are merely speed but don't quote me on that. Hope any of thishelps. (DSL or a cable modem) Which would you recommend for use with JAWS or does it make a difference? I am getting pretty tired of this 56-K modem. However, I want something that will work pretty efficiently with JAWS and won't put too much stress on my computer. I am thinking about signing up with Bellsouth. They have been advertising their $24.95 per month deal for DSL service. Is this pretty reasonable? Also, are the modems pretty easy to set up if I want to do it myself? What about a cable modem? my household is currently signed up with Time Warner, which is now owned by Comcast I believe. What I want to know is the advantages and disadvantages of each service. I will list my system properties for my laptop below. I also have a docking station. System Properties Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Manufactured and supported by: HP Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz 3.19 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM Thanks and I hope to hear from you all soon!
