Hello listers,

I recently discovered a bug in JFW 6 which causes Internet Explorer to
suddenly terminate on certain web pages. I don't know if this applies to all
versions of Windows, but it does apply to XP Pro with SP2.

If, for example, you go to the following web address:

https://www.optionsxpress.com/login.asp

you will be prompted for a user name and password. For purposes of testing
this bug, you can simply make up a user name and password, and then tab into
the combo-box and choose a category. The next tab will put you on the secure
log-in button, and a few seconds after hitting it, you will get an error
message telling you that Internet Explorer encountered an error and had to
terminate. The error detail screen mentions a "mshtml.dll" as being the
problem, but this is misleading.

After spending lots of time with Microsoft technical support people who
could barely speak English, I finally tried a system restore. I went back to
the last time I was able to log into my account, and that did the trick.
Only problem was, the system restore un-installed JFW 6, so I was now using
version 5.1. The system restore date I had chosen was just four days prior
to the date I had installed JFW version 6.

I contacted FS technical support (BTW: they all speak English quite well)
and informed them about this bug. From their own testing, they confirmed
that it is indeed a bug in JFW 6, and I was told that their programmers know
what is causing the problem. They hope to include a fix for it in the
upcoming JFW 6.1 update.
