Look no further. This is just normal behavior. There is really not much
you can do to make JAWS start up any faster. On my commercial-grade Dell
workstation with XP Pro and JAWS 9, it takes almost two minutes from the
time I hit the power button until I hear the "JAWS for Windows Is Ready"
message.

I have uninstalled all old versions of JAWS and run Regscrub, defrag, disk
cleanup--not in that order. Then reinstalled JAWS9, using the replacement
CD. Nonetheless, after the Windows start-up song it takes JAWS about 90
seconds to begin speaking. the startmenu is empty. Where do I look
next???
