interesting question, and unsatisfying answer.

first one must know if you need to do a complete reinstall, if yes then not
sure of the answer.

here is the deal, stomp back up exec used to work fine for me but did not
allow me to do a reinstall if windows it self got corrupted.

that required sighted help, because most of these programs load on a mini
version of windows to allow the reinstall, but the miniwindows doesnot
include drivers forsound card or jfw.

so no speech.

this type of reinstall is called disaster recovery.

so with stomp back up exec you will need sighted assistance if you desire a
disaster recoverry solution.

but if all you want to do is recover certain files and if you back up to a
n t f s file system on another hard drive this should be a cinch.

be sure to see how big a file one can make when backing up, in previous
versions of the o s a back up to the hardd rive meant the files had to be
split using stomp, but x p with n t f s file system may have over come this
issue, .

stomp does incremental and scheduling.
and explorer type apt for reinstalling files.

missing access for blind folks to disaster recovery.

thought a sighted person could help when this less frequent task is needed.

their is a program that can do disaster recovery though, but may lack the
ability to do incremental backup.

it reinstalls using a dos floppy and a batch file one can automate even
with no dos speech.

that being ghost 2003, a totally differant animal than the newer ghost 2004.

ghost 2004 probably has the same issues for disaster recovery as stomp
backup exec.
for that reason ghost 2003 is my favorite backup solution.

all except disaster recovery is done in windows, easy as pie to use and
reinstall a backup.

one caviot, of ghost 2003, who knows if n u will update it to work with
newer burners and double density d v d plus r w disk.

i over come this disadvantage by backing up to another hard drive for
safest results.

even though it does not do incremental, one can restore one file at a time
by loading the backup file into ghost explorers, then copy and paste just
like windows explorer.

ghost explorer interface is almost identical to windows explorer.

a third solution.

the third option is not what you asked for, its only an automated solution
to what your doing now.

instead of copying your files to the folder manually their is a free
program that does this automaticly for you.

its called karens replicator.

www.jfwlite.com

then clickon programs then look for it.

its not a sophisticated backup solution, but it can save your data safely.
