JAWS 9.0 vista home and reading text

Hi everybody. 
I am running JFW 9.0 and vista home. 
It works well, except that when I use the left and write arrow keys, plus
control, to read a word, I hear "selected", and the word is not read. It is
very difficult to edit what I write. 
This  happens no matter which applicationI'm using. 
Does anybody have asolution? 
My plan is to call FS Monday assuming they are open.
