Hi All,
I'm not sure this information are correct. I found them on Yahoo. I think
that you may find them useful:
The following information from Eric Damery will clarify what issues the
patch for Jaws 4.51 addressed. This information will be posted to the
Freedom Scientific website at a later time, hopefully later this week.
During the development of JAWS 5.0, we solved many problems that have been
in JAWS since 4.51 and even earlier in some cases. While I wish we could
always add fixes back into earlier versions, it is not so simple in most
cases so we don't often get to post fixes for versions of software that
were released 8 to 10 months earlier.
With the release of JAWS 5.0, we have decided to go back and make several
fixes to 4.51 version. These problems were significant enough issues, that
we did not want our 4.51 customers feeling that they had to upgrade to get
these fixes. The fixes provided, and the link for the patch are outlined
below.

Eric Damery

Note that you should have JAWS 4.51.119 already installed before executing
the self extracting installer of the patch. That patch can be found at:
ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/beta/JAWS451131Patch.exe
Fixes:
1. There were certain web pages that when accessed with JAWS 4.51, could
cause your JAWS Screen Reader to be unloaded without any explanation. This
has been resolved for 5.0 and is included in the patch for 4.51.
2. There were reports from many users that JAWS would become sluggish
after a period of time and cause you to have to reboot your system in
order to continue using it. This happened most often in Windows XP and
especially if you were using Internet Explorer in Windows XP. Note that it
did not happen on all systems. This is solved for 5.0 and included in the
patch for 4.51.
3. There were many reports of users pressing up or down arrow to navigate
through a document in Word or maybe an email message and JAWS would say
blank or maybe read the previous line. If you were reading with a Braille
Display or did a say line at that point, you would find that in fact JAWS
was on the expected line. This problem was tied to timing and scrolling
documents and should be resolved in both JAWS 5.0 and in 4.51 using this
patch.
4. We solved some of the reported problems related to disappearing text in
MS Word documents during the JAWS 5.0 cycle and have included those
changes for 4.51 patch also.
Also, I still cannot use the Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia with JAWS
5.0. Are there any new scripts?
Best regards,
Armond.
