Try using the Esc key when you get stuck. It will clear the edit mode.
You can change how JAWS reacts to edit fields and also how long it will wait
before going into auto edit mode, in the JAWS options (Insert+V).

Hi all,
I am using JAWS 10 and Windows XP. My JAWS doesn't respond to all edit
fields in the same way. As you arrow down through web pages and come to an
edit field, forms mode automatically comes on. And this response is always
the same. However, when I do one more down arrow, on some pages it leaves
the edit field and on some it gets stuck. Can anyone explain to me why this
is? Does it have anything to do with how the html for the edit field is
formatted? Or even which programming language was used to form that field?
I'd really appreciate any information you might have on this subject.
