Is it possible to run a non-Microsoft e-mail program with one that is Microsoft based?

Good day folks and folkettes:

I am curious about something. I would like to know if it is possible to run
2 separate "pop 3" e-mail programs on a single computer, albeit not
operating at the same time, with one being a Microsoft proprietary program
and the other not? What I mean is if I wanted to continue using my current
mail program, Outlook Express, but was curious about the features of
another, Eudora in this case, could I install both programs and bounce back
and forth between the 2 programs till I am totally in sync with the second
program, Eudora?
Of course all of this would be asked with the understanding that I am
currently running JAWS version 6.0 on a Windows XP home edition operating
system.

Tootle doo,
Dennis
