Impatient with Windows Media Player

Hello all:
Some of you on the list, from the posts, have become fairly proficient
at using Windows Media Player.
I am not much of a music person, and cannot afford lots of time to
figure out what appears to be a decidedly unfriendly program.
I checked the JFW Lite site, but found, to my surprise, no helpful hints
on using Windows Media Player.
Could someone spare a few lines of tips and tricks?
I fear I am missing something basic in using this program.
