Forward of Amazon strategy, part 1

this is from the Jaws Lite list. First of three. The basic thing to start
with is go to
http:///www.amazon.com/access

-- I think that's the URL, anyway. Then do your search for a product from
the search function there, and when you find it and click on it, do *not*
click on the link you'd ordinarily use then to put it into your shopping
cart. Click instead on the link that says "New and used" or something, that
shows all the offerings. On that page, find the link labeled Amazon's
Offer, and click on that.

That will get you the sort of page you wanted in the first place, with the
product details and a shopping cart button. It's a crazy method, and it's a
wonder this woman figured it out. I'm sending the first of several emails
in which she describes different aspects of the strategy.

Hi Daniel and all, Sorry for not replying last night. Here's what I did. I
put the name of the book, author or CD in the search box. Amazon brought up
the results and said something like 10 new and used. I clicked on that. The
next page offered new and used again, but there was also a link for Amazon
offer which I clicked. That took me to a page with the Amazon price and the
option to add it to my shopping cart. OK, so after I did that process
several times and added 3 items to my cart. I clicked check out. There I was
asked to sign in, and the page said I could use my regular Amazon account.
Amazon had already acknowledged that it recognized me, with the regular
welcome message. The page already showed my email, so all I had to add was
my pass word. After doing that, my check out page showed my address, credit
card info, etc. The tricky part was that there was a shipping charge, but
all the shipping options -- including free super saver shopping -- were
listed. Above super saving shipping, there was a button to change shipping
speed. I didn't know what it would do, but I clicked it, and that put all my
items into one shipment and gave me free shipping.
I don't know about one click settings because I didn't try that. I went
through the longer check out process because I wanted to avoid shipping
costs.
I hope this makes sense, and I also hope it wilil work for others.
One more thing, I bet if you get to the checkout process and get stuck on
the shipping charge calling the customer service number could get someone on
Amazon's end to finish the order.

Shari
