Hi.

I've had the opposite experience with Firefox, because I find it works much better with PDF files. Below I've listed some of the add-ons I've installed to give you an idea of how Firefox's performance can be improved. To look at the very long series of available add-ons, go to the Firefox website. For specific add-ons, it might be easier to Google.

PDF Download 2.1.0.1 Allows you to choose what to do with a PDF file: download it, view it with an external viewer or view it as HTML. PlainOldFavorites 1.0.1 Use Internet Explorer Favorites directly from Firefox RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 1.0 Detects all recordable content on the browser WebVisum 0.7.7

Note. The RealPlayer add-on doesn't work with the very latest Firefox release. I guess we wait for that particular developer to make it compatible.

Yeah, I notice that too. Doesn't happen with IE7.

Using Jaws 10 and firefox 3.0.6, I like the ability to get add ons and the over all speed of firefox. Jaws compatibility for the browser has improved greatly and any issues that I might come along really aren't deal breakers that make me seriously consider going back to IE7. I am however experiencing a recent issue with Jaws responsiveness in firefox which I've written to this list previously. I in fact wrote fs about it and the tech guy who wrote me back said that it was a known issue with firefox and that it should be addressed in a future release of jfw. When that may be, who knows. . The only other main issue or inconvenience I have with firefox is that when you alt tab out of the screen or just change focous from the webpage, you lose your spot on the page and are placed back at the top of the screen. That's the only reall problem I have with the browser and hopefully it'll be address as well. Other then that, there's not much of a learning curv and again, the add ons are quite helpful.

Hi, Ray.

Here's my experience with Firefox and JAWS.

I can navigate the secure pages of Amazon and numerous other websites using Firefox 3.X and JAWS 10. However, the secure pages on one local website, FreshDirect.com, do not work right with JAWS 10. The solution that invariably solves the problem for me is to close JAWS 10 and load JAWS 9, while keeping Firefox as my browser.

You allude to Webvisum as a reason to use Firefox, and I agree, even though the clicks annoy me so much that I keep it inactive until I need to use the recapture feature. I also like that it generates literally thousands of fewer files than IE7 and, I think as a result, moves faster.

Each of our systems gives us different experiences. I offer my experience to

make sure no one is discouraged from trying Firefox just in case it works on

theirs.

I use JAWS 10. I sure hope that Mozilla can fix the crashes; but, I must tell you. I took a look at the Mozilla support forum; and, I'm not the only person having Firefox crashes. Many sited are also having this problem.

What a shame; for you see, I had been saying what a nice browser it was. I had the choice between a stable browser and access to captcha solving. Stable browsing won out.

Ray has just responded by warning you about Firefox crashing on certain websites. Unlike him, I do not have that problem on Amazon. However, a number of JAWS users have reported problems using JAWS 9 with Firefox, as do

I. So staying with JAWS 9 is a good idea for now.

Here's the Website I use to download Firefox:
