I think you will find the wireless keyboard a much better option. Mine sits on
my Futon while my laptop is connected to my main stereo. So, in a sense its
like a fancy remote control while I'm at home.

  Hi Robert,

Thanks for the reply. As for the numpad, that really bites. At least it
wasn't expensive, and I still have the receipt, so I can try to return it or at
least get some money off the wireless keyboard.

  Cheers,

  Will

No, unfortunately, the problem is in the num pad. I have one that I no longer
use because the external numpad seems to have a problem with the command that
causes the jaws cursor to follow the pc cursor. Thus, I now use a wireless
keyboard with my laptop.

    Hi all,

I just got an external number pad since I was sick of hitting the wrong
numbersall the time. It's a Targus Ultra Mini USB numpad. When the num lock
on the laptop is on and the num lock on the pad is on, everything works great,
and Jaws reads the numbers. But if the numlock is off on my laptop (giving me
access to the actual letters so I can type), Jaws only says "num lock off'
anytime I hit any key on the pad. The numbers show up in the document or
whatever, but I can't hear them as I'm entering data.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

    Thanks,

    Will
