Well, if you don't mind being just very basic, Gold Wave would be a nice choice for the low end of the spectrum. It has a fairly decent click and pop suppressor and noise reduction feature which might work well for you; however, if you don't mind coughing up a little more (say about $290.00 or so) Sound Forge is a very nice choice which would serve you well. I would recommend adobe Audition version 1.5; but, I honestly can't do that because unlike version 1.0, there appear to be some major focus change events which JAWS is not able to see and every time you go in to the multitrack environment, JAWS gets forced out of RAM. I've talked to FS tech support about this issue and got nowhere. Also, I got nowhere with the people over at Adobe either. The reason I got nowhere; or so I suspect; is due to the high probability that there is not a single accessibility person on the Adobe Audition development team. As a consequence, that development team neither knows or could care less about what ever accessibility issues we may have with the program. It's a shame too because that program has a lot of potential which, with out accessibility, goes unrealized. Some here have mentioned Cake Walk. I believe the present version is called Sonar; could be mistaken about that. From what I hear, it's supposed to be a multitrack environment too; not sure about that. I'm just kind of getting an idea of what to get to transfer things from cassette and reel to reel to CD. I've got a lot of original songs on reel to reel as well as college and nostalgic info on cassette I would like to immortalize. Any suggestions?
