Hi.

Here's how you turn the mouse pad off on a Dell Laptop:
1.  Go to the start menu, then to the control panel.  In some cases, the
control panel may be under the "settings," sub menu of the start menu.
2.  Once in the control panel, press "m" until you hear "mouse."
3.  Press enter.  The first option that will come up is a radio button
to enable or disable the mouse or track pad.  Press down arrow until you
hear "disabled," then press enter.

That should do it.
