Dave, in Kurzweil some of the functions in the utilities section need to have JAWS to be turned off.

When you run OpenBook with the key combination ALT+CTRL+O, OR Kertzweil 1000 
with the key combination ALT+CTRL+K, the "Sleep mode function is turned on
automatically.
In other words, JAWS is told to "shut up" while either of those programs are 
running.

Hi, mostafa, sleep enable is a feature for other programs that are voice
outpoot. For example openbook or Kurzweil 1000 with in a program that has
voice you go to configuration manager and advance and when you see that
sleep mode enable check box this will shut JAWS up when a program likeOB

or

k1000 is opened. Let me know if I made myself clear!
