Cy,
i totall agree with your statment i also agree people will find it harder and harder to stay away from jaws pro, and sometimes things happen but that is something that we might not all like the cost of the more expensive sma and if you have to have the sitrix support also shelling out an extra 200 dollars for that support. as well.

Subject: Buying a computer using JAWS

Well, another major problem when purchasing a computer is the lack of
knowledge and understanding of the hardware and software by most of the
salesfolks.
It is extremely difficult to get an honest and meaningful answer from
those folks.
When you tell them that you can not have XP Pro or anything built around
that version of XP you have a reasonable expectation to have this taken
seriously.
I am concerned that it is going to be harder and harder to not have to
migrate to JAWS Pro.

Although this list is rightly focused on technology problems and solutions, I've noticed two opposing attitudes that color our approaches to these issues: caveat emptor and caveat vendor, that is, buyer beware and seller beware. There's no question that we must do our homework before obtaining new systems and software. On the other hand, I find as a JAWS user that I need to know more about computers than my sighted friends do. As with my sighted friends, I'm torn between needing to know enough about computers to make them serve my purposes and having my computer take over my life.

In that light, while we're responsible for taking the steps we can to
ensure
that anything we do with our computers is compatible with JAWS, we must
hold
Freedom Scientific accountable for keeping us well informed about
compatibility issues and for maintaining JAWS's ability to handle
developments. If we do our part, we have a right to expect FS to do
theirs.
