Does the mute button on a laptop actually mute the output from the
synthesizer or, does the mute button only mute the speakers. I suppose, it
depends on how the mute button has been programmed for a particular brand or
range of laptops. I would be interested in your particular experiences.
If the mute button only mutes the sound coming out of the speakers, then
pressing the mute button will have no affect if you are using a recording
program and you are using the hardware sound card to record a sound source
from an external device.
