Dave,
I have Office 2003 installed, sp 3. I only installed Word and Excel.
But I am really only using Word so far. I have never learned to use Excel.
I keep meaning to. Is there an issue in particular you want to alert me
about?

Rick,
Use Excel and let us know.
Exactly what version is now installed on your computer?

Hi this is Rik, who had initiated this thread earlier this week.
I did not get an email. but I did have the pop that said the update was
available.
I sort of took a deep breath, since some on this list had warned about it.
But I did it. The update was successful, and I rebooted as was suggested
upon completion.
So far, I have not had any problems.
So if you could, David, maybe tell me and others what types of things to be
watching for.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium operating system on a Dell xps studio
desktop pc.
I do not know what is new with this upgrade.
I have not yet updated to IE 9, but I think I might like to try it.
I am still quite puzzled half the time with ribbons and miss the old regular
menus.
I am using Windows Live Mail 2011, version 15 something.
I copied my xp version of wordpad and am enjoying using my old menus with
that, so far no problems that way.
And I have my old Office 2003 programs running okay on this system.
Thanks.
And thanks to those who suggested keyboad shortcuts to check the version of
JAWS.
Those 3-finger commands get me hog tied sometimes. But I was able to do it,
and it worked.
One thing I might mention that seems inconsistent with JAWS. I got very
comfortable habitually reading text by navigating paragraph by paragraph using
CTRL + UP or DOWN arrow. Quite often these days it seems that command will
not work. That is the case over a wide variety of text formats, it seems.
Any ideas on this would be helpful.
Thanks.
Rik

Hi Rick and all,
I received an e mail from FS yesterday asking me to download from a link they
provided for the latest upgrade to jfw 12 plus..
I did so and it totally screwed up my computer trying to use the upgrade.
FS is aware of this problem and they said if you want to upgrade use their
web site instead of the link in their e mail.
I had to reinstall jaws and that fixed the issue.

I have been watching my JAWS 12 check for updates by way of the help menu.
and so for it has not come up.
I am using JAWS version 12.5.25 on my Windows 7 Home Premium machine. It
seems to work pretty well.
This version is what is listed on About JAWS.
Perhaps the update happened automatically?
Or should I say, is this the most recent version?
Thanks.
Rik
