Hi Kathy,
I don't think you need to uninstall version 6 first. Just go to adobe.com and
get the download, save it somewhere then go into windows explorer and click on
it or press enter. It will tell you it's preparing the install sheild and voila!
If you need any more guidance let me know and I'll try to help.
