Hi,
I've been using notepad for years as a scratch pad application and never knew
that you could use it as a rudimentary journal-writing tool. Seems to me that
qualifies as an "Easter Egg", one of those hidden features in a program that
you find by sheer happenstance or one of those undocumented features that
Microsoft or other developers may have built into programs that you only hear
about through word of mouth. Are there any more little gems like that out
there, some accessible Easter Eggs?

Curious.

Tom

No, the times that are already in the file won't go away, but it will no
longer put times and dates at the end of the file when you open the file
because the line that gives notepad the instructions to put the time and date
is: .LOG

Got it! Thanks!. If we take the .LOG out after the time shows, will it go
away?

There are a couple of things you have to do to get this to work.

First, you have to put .LOG in all caps as the first line of your file.
You must have the period before the log in all caps.

Second, when it was first mentioned, this line was within quotes. The
quotes must not be there in order for it to work.

Third, you must re open the text file in order for the time and date to
appear at the end of the file. It won't happen the first time the file is
opened.

        Hope this helps.
