Well you can also edit the scheduler 1go to control center 2in the list go to scheduler 3tab down to scheduled tasks and press the space bar 4in the list choose test plan and tab down until you reach edit. Here you can see how avg is scanning your machine and how you want it to behave good luck ----- Original Message ----- From: bjones To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2007 11:01 AM Subject: RE: AVG another question That's correct. AVG takes over everything when it is updating, the scheduled scan is finishing and I have to answer questions to get back to what I am doing. Do you all have your computer scan daily or weekly? I do it daily and for some reason it does it again twice on Fridays. I'm not very good at this so sorry for the confusion. Hum! have to look into this one. ----- Original Message ----- From: Robert McCoy To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2007 10:00 AM Subject: RE: AVG another question The "display message only if a problem exists" relates to AVG warning you if something is amiss. I wonder if under the scheduler where it says display components or display components only if there is a problem what this means. If anyone knows if this is where I might turn off those messages or does this mean something else? In AVG, tab to control system and hit the space bar. Tab to the list menu and arrow to e-mail scanner. Tab to properties and hit enter. Tab to configure and hit enter. Tab to certify e-mail and uncheck it (I believe it is the third tab). Tab to okay This will not turn off e-mail checking, but it will turn off the message that AVG is checking the e-mail. Thus, you are still protected. I have the paid version of AVG and am disappointed and annoyed at the interference this program causes while I read e-mail, work and try to use my computer. When e-mail is being scanned I cannot read my other mail. If I am working I get all the messages that it is updating or scanning and I cannot continue until I press okay or close. So maybe there is also a place to check to have it run in the background instead of interfering with everything else. Anyone know?
