Hi, Several coordinators have asked me about the upcoming meetings. Here is a repeat of the email that Pat sent out before Pesach about two important meetings " Meeting this Wednesday (May 6th) – The beginning part of the session (from 16.00 – 17.15) will be for coordinators only. After that, Susie Secemski will be giving a talk from 17.15 – 19.00 about the following issues: 1. How to give a very quick test of reading level (miscue analysis) for decoding, reading level etc. 2. How to evaluate writing difficulties - legibility, spelling . 3. How to determine gaps between oral and written skills. 4. How to understand the interplay between fluency and accuracy, including the time factor. 5. Who really needs an oral examination in English? For whom might it be detrimental? 6. How to deal with accommodations. *THIS SESSION IS MANDATORY FOR ALL TEACHERS and coordinators*. Please make sure that all staff members attend this part of the session. Meeting on May 13th – This is the final meeting of the Coordinators' Forum. All your teachers are invited to this stimulating and valuable talk about the Read-A-Thon. Gayla Morrison will give us all the relevant information about how to set up and run a Read-A-Thon, which is an exciting way of encouraging pupils to read. *The second part of this meeting is MANDATORY for all coo*rdinators. All Jerusalem schools are going to be part of WINDOWS LIVE which is an educational network. All information, forms, and announcements will be made only through WINDOWS LIVE so it is vital that you attend this session. You will receive your usernames and passwords and will learn how to join the Manhi network. The Manhi counselor will give an overview of the network and help you to connect. This session will take place in the computer room. Any coordinator not able to attend this session is to notify Pat by May 6th. " Hope this clears up all the questions. Shabbat shalom, Ora
