hi tristram could you possibly tell me how to go about checking to see that it is set at normal 100% many thanks susan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tristram Llewellyn" <tris-l@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, February 25, 2005 5:00 PM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: the computer keeps saying Hi Susan Yes I do understand you, but I have definitely seen this and it is beause of the display drivers. When they don't function properly they affect Jaws by causing it to speak parts of windows that it normally does not. In essence things are being drawn on screen too slow for Jaws making it think it should speak a change or re-draw on screen. In my view the advice still stands, I've seen the problem many times. The only other thing I think it might be is that you may need to set the Windows colour scheme in "Control Panel". Find your way into "display" and press control+tab to find the "appearance" tab. Change the scheme so that it says "windows standard" and then tab to "OK" button. That may also fix it. Regards. It sounds like your displays drivers aren't working properly. The funny speech is from the bottom of the Microsoft Word window and this occurs in one of two situations. The first is that under "display" in the "settings" tab, under the "advanced" button somebody or perhaps just windows has dragged down the hardware acceleration slider. This should normally be at 100 percent, whereas if it is set lower you can often get that problem. The second possibility is that the display drives have either become uninstalled or damaged in some way. The easiest method to rectify this situation is to locate some drivers for the card to re-install, preferrably updated drivers. You can usually find such from the graphic chip/card manufacturers website. Regards. I think this is correct as it is very hard to make out just exactly what jaws is saying and it is not possible to use the arrow keys to go letter by letter. My partner Joe who has very little sight say's that the icomms on the desk top are bigger than before also the colour is different. can any one tell me just what i've done and help me out please?
