The whole service is garbage as far as I am concerned. I generally suggest people think about switching to Gmail. It is more flexible for a start in that you can read the mail with an email client such as outlook and you can use it on the web reasonably successfully. Hotmail does seem to have suffered with various reliability issues and the like over the years to. If you decide to go to Gmail you will have to solve one capcha to sign up but there is an audio alternative and you can use a service such as Webvisum with Firefox once you have an account. You can ask Gmail to pick up your hotmail automatically for the next 30 days which also helps. Fix the web can also take up problems with web site owners, it may be worth contacting them and asking that they raise it with hotmail.
